In 5 months, Burgas region will not fall into a water crisis, because the seasons with the low levels of the dams have passed. We are already expecting them to start filling up.

This was said by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Eng. Violeta Koritarova, who discussed the water supply situation in the Burgas region with mayors from the region.

Mayors or their representatives of Burgas, Aytos, Karnobat, Sungurlare, Tsarevo, Rouen, Sredets, Primorsko, Sozopol, Nesebar, Pomorie, Malko Tarnovo and Kameno participated in the meeting.

„Nwe are predicted to fall into a water crisis. That’s why I’m meeting with the mayors to outline the short-term measures for the next tourist season. Climate change is everywhere and the drought is already in its second year, but when timely measures are taken, we will not reach a regime said the minister.

She explained that the main measures that have been taken are the repair of the water supply network, so that we do not lose large amounts of water, as well as the inclusion of the two dams in Aheloy and Poroy in the “Kamchia” derivation.

Also next year, the treatment plant in the dam will be launched. A “clear meadow” that will guarantee water quality.
