Liam Payne, former singer of the boy band One Direction, was buried today. Several celebrities, including his former bandmates, attended the funeral. Payne (31) died last month after falling from a balcony in a hotel in Buenos Aires.
The funeral service was held at St. Mary’s Church in Amersham, about 25 miles northwest of London. Payne’s coffin was brought to the church in a white carriage with two white horses.
The location was not announced in advance to prevent a large crowd from attending. Nevertheless, dozens of local people and fans gathered at the church. The AP writes that the crowd fell silent when Payne’s parents got out of a car and stood next to the carriage.
The carriage was decorated with flowers with the texts “Son” (son) and “Daddy” (dad). Payne had a 7-year-old son, Bear, with singer Cheryl Tweedy.

Three people have been charged in his death, with “abandonment of a person followed by death” and “supplying and facilitating the use of narcotics”. It concerns a businessman who was friends with the One Direction member, a hotel employee and someone who allegedly helped Payne get drugs.
