Commissioner General of Police (Komjen Pol) Election of Budiyanto elected as Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the period 2024-2029 at the Plenary Meeting of Commission III at the Parliament Center, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (21/11).
Setyo will lead the anti-corruption group for the next five years together with Johanis Tanak, Fitroh Rohcahyanto, Ibnu Basuki Widodo, and Agus Joko Pramono.
Setyo received the majority of votes as Chairman of the Committee for the Elimination of Corruption in the vote made by the Members of Commission III DPR with 45 votes.

Setyo is a three-star general of the National Police who is currently the Inspector General in the Ministry of Agriculture. He was only in that position in March 2024.
During his career, this 1989 Police Academy graduate served several times in the Papua region. Among other things, he has served as the Biak Numfor Police Chief, the Deputy Director of Criminal Investigation at the Papua Police and the Special Director of Criminal Investigation at the Papua Police.
Setyo has also served as Regional Police Chief, including North Sulawesi Regional Police Chief and East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Chief.
Setyo is not new to the anti-corruption body, he was the Director of Investigation at the Corruption Eradication Commission for over a year in 2020.
Before that, he was the Coordinator of Division III KPK as well as the Acting Director of Education KPK.
During the fit and proper test at Commission III DPR, Parliament Center, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (18/11), Setyo assessed that sting operations (OTT) were still needed and were considered important in ‘ eliminate corruption.
“We think that OTT is still needed, why is it needed? OTT is the gateway to the things that are needed to be able to open bigger things,” said Setyo in his presentation.
