In November we dealt with the following topics:
- Clear sidewalks on Aurbacherstrasse: At the suggestion of an OV member, we have decided to submit an application to protect the sidewalk on Aurbacherstraße from incorrectly parked delivery vans, e.g. with bike racks, bollards, and a delivery zone (Link). Do you also have places where something bothers you? Please feel free to contact us – sometimes you can’t solve problems directly, but when issues accumulate, we collect them and, if necessary, pass them on to the city council.
- Ruler Park: After a long list of signatures against We had feedback from a citizen on the agenda this month about the new playground at Regerpark positive commented on this playground. This will straighten out the public image of opinions on this issue somewhat. And legally, as already described in October, the playground is not vulnerable anyway. But here, as in the example of Weißenburger Straße, we would like to remind you: always use the existing feedback channels for positive things, so the administration gets a more balanced picture of projects in public spaces.
- Schlotthauer Platz: The kickoff for the development of Schlotthauer Platz has taken place; under the title “Dialog am Birnbaum”, citizens are working on ideas that can later serve as a basis. See also this Press release on the Munich Forum website.
Rückblick
As in previous years, a commemorative event by the BA5 took place on November 8th, this time together with the BA17. Most recently there were, among other things, walks with Terry Swartzberg. This time Hermann Wilhelm read from various diaries and protocols about the planned attack in the Bürgerbräukeller. In this context, we would like to remind you that Georg Elser will be given more space in the renovated Gasteig than with the current floor plate. And there is also news about the fence on Orleansstrasse, which is reminiscent of the White Rose: a memorial site will be set up in the new “Orleanshöfe” building project, and the district committee is involved in distributing additional fence parts to interested schools.

Franz Klug and Sonja Rümelin, parliamentary group spokespersons for the Green Party in BA5
What are the specific safety measures being proposed for Aurbacherstraße to address the issue of parking delivery vans and their impact on pedestrians?
Host: Hello and welcome to World Today News! Today, we have two special guests with us, Franz Klug and Sonja Rümelin, the parliamentary group spokespersons for the Green Party in BA5, discussing the recent activities and developments in their district. Thank you both for joining us today.
Franz, could you start by elaborating on the decision to apply for bollards and a delivery zone on Aurbacherstraße to protect the sidewalk from wrongly parked delivery vans? Can you explain why this issue was raised and how it impacts the local community?
Franz Klug: Sure, thank you for having us. We have received several complaints from residents about delivery vans obstructing the sidewalks, making it difficult for pedestrians to navigate, particularly those with disabilities or pulling prams. There was also a concern about the safety of cyclists on the narrow streets. Therefore, we decided to pursue an application for bollards and a designated delivery zone to ensure that these vehicles are parked in a safe and orderly manner. This not only benefits the local community but also addresses safety concerns for everyone using the area.
Host: That’s a great initiative to ensure the safety and accessibility of public spaces. Sonja, can you tell us about the positive feedback received on the new playground at Regerpark despite previous concerns? How does this impact future planning for public spaces in the district?
Sonja Rümelin: Yes, we received a number of signatures expressing concern about the new playground’s design, which led the district committee to conduct a thorough evaluation process. However, it seems that after some time, the public’s perception has shifted, and there have been numerous positive comments from parents and children who enjoy the new facilities. We acknowledge that sometimes sentiments can change over time and appreciate the citizens’ willingness to share their opinions and work with us to improve the district. We always encourage feedback on our plans and projects to ensure we’re meeting the needs of the people we serve.
Host: Understood. Moving on to the upcoming Schlotthauer Platz development. Hermann Wilhelm recently led a walk discussing the planned attack in the Bürgerbräukeller, and it was announced that there will be a memorial site for the White Rose movement. Can you give us an update
