– We see examples of many things that have been increased in price now in October, to create fake offers during Black Week and Black Friday. Many electronics have increased in price by more than 10 percent in October – apparently to be able to save on the offers in November, says Thomas Iversen, head of the department at the Consumer Council.
As long as the item has had a high price for 30 days, the store can use this as a legal starting price when calculating sale prices and discounts. In other words, they can raise the prices for 30 days, then turn them down again and market this as an offer.
Three out of four people do not trust that the prices in advance for the shops are correct, one shows study conducted by YouGov, on behalf of the Consumer Council.
The survey nevertheless shows that 34 percent plan to shop on Black Friday this year.

To be sure that the offer is genuine, we encourage everyone to use price comparison services such as prisjakt.no. Here you can see historical prices and compare offers between different stores, says Iversen.
