NetEase has provided information in a video about what gamers can expect on and around the release of Marvel Rivals.
It was already known that the shooter with Marvel heroes will be released on December 6. Then ‘season 0’ starts immediately, called ‘Doom’s Rise’. This season only lasts a month and immediately there are 33 different playable characters. Eight maps will be available for quick matches and competitive modes, as well as a ‘conquest’ map and a training area.
The season focuses on Doom creating the Timestream Entanglement, creating four new Chronoverses: Techno-Dystopia 2099, Mosaic Timeline: Unstoppable Spacetime, Now: Evil Strikes, and Line -time falls: Even the Gods Die.
The first season will then start in early January. From season one onwards, each season will feature new content in the form of playable characters, maps, new team moves and sometimes new modes. Each season lasts about three months.
In addition, NetEase has confirmed that there will be no pay-to-win practices in the game. The battle pass is paid upon release only for clothing and other cosmetic items. As season 0 only covers a month, this pass is also slightly smaller and this will be reflected in the price.
The free-to-play PvP shooter Marvel Rivals was released earlier this year. Two teams of six players compete against each other. “Rally your favorite Marvel characters and compete in 6v6 battles, using all-new Team Up Skills in devastating locations across the Marvel Universe,” the official description reads.
These Team-Up abilities allow heroes to make moves together. For example, Rocket Raccoon can ride around on Groot’s back. Players can choose from a wide selection of heroes and villains from famous groups such as the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men and many more.
Marvel Rivals will be released on December 6 for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
