There are already 32 goals and eight assists in just 24 games and it’s still November. Viktor Gyökeres has become one of the hottest names in European football and there are those who are tipping the Sport striker for a move to England.
Former Swedish international Anders Limpar, who played for Arsenal, Everton and Birmingham, praised his team-mate.
«I know Gyökeres very personally, I was a kind of adviser to him when he played for Brommapojkarna. I talked a lot about professional life with him. He is a striker who works amazingly and scores a lot of goals,” he began by telling Football Direkt.
“Haaland has been the best in Europe for many years. Of course there are those cannons like Lewandowski, Kane and Salah, but Gyökeres is now among the stars of the world. He is the type of player who can almost choose which club he wants to go to,” he said.
Limpar also agreed on a possible move for Gyökeres to Arsenal.
“It would be crazy to see Gyökeres at Arsenal. (…) We have to remember that the Portuguese competition is worse than the Premier League, but when Manchester City came to Lisbon, they got a hat-trick. He can score goals in England, he has played for Coventry, he knows the English mentality. I think the next step is to play in the Premier League and be able to choose which club you want to play for”, he said.
“I’m sure he’ll get more and more goals and join a Premier League team like Manchester City, Arsenal or maybe Liverpool. He will have world-class players who will serve him and score more goals,” he concluded.
It is worth remembering that Gyökeres, who has a contract until 2028 and a release clause of 100 million euros, has expressed his desire to finish the season at Sporting.

With the support he needs to thrive. His work ethic and ability to adapt will be key factors in helping him stand out among the best strikers in the Premier League.”
Interview with Anders Limpar and former Premier League player Tomas Brolin about Viktor Gyökeres’ potential transfer to England.
Anders Limpar: “I think it’s great that Gyökeres is getting the recognition he deserves. He’s been an incredible player for Sporting Lisbon this season, scoring goals consistently and being a key component of their success. In your opinion, why do you think he’s been so successful in Portugal?”
Tomas Brolin: “Well, he’s playing in a very strong team with talented players around him, which always helps. But Gyökeres also has an impressive work rate and his finishing ability is top-notch. He’s quick, strong, and his positioning is excellent. Plus, he’s young, which means he still has room to improve. I believe it’s just a matter of time before he moves to a more competitive league like the Premier League.”
AL: “You mentioned his contract and release clause. Do you think these factors could affect his potential transfer? What is your opinion on the possibility of him coming back to the Premier League?”
TB: “In today’s market, €100 million might not seem like a lot, but it’s still a substantial transfer fee. Clubs need to have financial stability before making such a move. However, Gyökeres has shown that he can adapt to different leagues and cultures as he played in England before. It would be interesting to see how he would perform back in the Premier League. I think he should definitely consider it when deciding his future.”
AL: “One of the challenges for Gyökeres could be competing against other prolific strikers like Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, and Mo Salah. How do you think he could potentially stand out in such a competitive environment?”
TB: “As I mentioned earlier, Gyökeres is still young and improving. He has a lot of potential to become one of the top strikers in the world. It’s also essential for him to have the right teammates around him who can create chances and serve him well. If he joins a team like Arsenal or Manchester City, for example, he will have world-class players like Martin Ødegaard or Kevin De Bruyne who can provide him
