- boston celtics 120 – 117 cleveland cavaliers
Quite simply the shock of the night. Cleveland, leader of the Eastern Conference, traveled to Boston, defending champion. The Cavaliers have had a stratospheric start to the season with 15 victories in 15 games. Only small problem for players Kenny Atkinsonis that they had not yet met the Celtics this season. In a meeting which at first glance seems to have been disputed, you should know that the Celtics were only behind twice in this match, on Cleveland’s first two baskets. Behind ? A lone rider or almost. The players of Joe Mazzula were up by as many as 21 points and demonstrated why they have been the defending champions and the best NBA team for a few seasons now. Even when the Cavaliers made an impressive run late in the game, the Celtics never gave the feeling of being overwhelmed or panicked. With an eight-player rotation, they won for the fifth time this season in seven home games and won the first of four clashes between the two teams this season.
Jayson Tatum finished with 33 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Al Horford also shines with his 20 points, finally Jaylen Brown is a little clumsy with his 17 points at 7/17 on shots. Speaking of clumsiness, how can we not mention the catastrophic match of Darius Garland. Author of only 8 points in this shock, the leader of the Cavaliers ends above all with a horrible 3/21 on shots… impossible to win a match with such skill. Donovan Mitchell tried everything with his 35 points and 8 rebounds but it was not enough. Evan Mobley added 22 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists in this first loss of the year.
- san antonio spurs 110 – 104 oklahoma city Thunder
Unlike the Celtics – Cavaliers match that everyone was looking forward to, the meeting between OKC and San Antonio did not seem to hold the attention of many observers. For what ? Because neither Devin Vassellis Jeremy Sochanis Victor Wembanyama were not ready to face the number 1s in the West. And yet, the players of Mitch Johnson delivered an excellent match to the point of even claiming the scalp of the leader of the Western Conference. A game plan well executed by the Spurs, who were able to count on a great three-point skill (41%) and a colossal contribution from the bench (42 points against 15 for the Thunder)! Keldon Johnson was breathtaking in the first half and even got the poster of the match in the second half. Chris Paul perfectly managed the tempo of his team to guide them towards a prestigious success. The Texans were up to 21 points ahead and were able to resist the big heat of Jalen Williams at the end of the match.
Williams finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was once again very good, but too alone. The playmaker finished with 32 points (5/8 from three points), 7 assists and 3 interceptions. For his part, Luguentz there completely missed with a 2/12 on shots for 6 points.
For the Spurs, Chris Paul finished with a new double-double: 14 points – 11 assists. Charles Basseyresponsible for the many absentees, illuminates the team with his energy. He finished with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Finally Keldon Johnson scores 22 points and the rookie Stephon Castlealthough clumsy, finished with 10 points, 8 assists and 3 rebounds.
- los angeles lakers 124 – 118 utah jazz
Second victory in two NBA Cup games for the title holders. The Lakers hosted the Utah Jazz to end the basketball evening. In a match that they fully mastered from start to finish, one player stood out on the Angelinos side: Dalton Knecht ! The Lakers rookie was exceptional with a new personal record in scoring: 37 points. Above all, he scored 21 points in the third quarter thanks to 6 three-point baskets. 26 points and 14 rebounds for Anthony Davis while LeBron James adds 26 points and 12 assists. 17 points for Austin Reaves and another very complicated match for D’Angelo Russell out of the bench. With this victory, coupled with OKC’s defeat, the Lakers take the lead in Group B in this NBA Cup and record their 10th victory of the season.
On the Jazz side, Lauri Markkanen finished with 22 points while Jordan Clarkson scored 18 points coming off the bench. Note the good game of Keyonte George, who finished with 18 points and 6 assists.

Welcome to World Today News! Today we have two esteemed guests with us, aiming to discuss the shocking results of some of the NBA games played last night. First, I would like to introduce Kenny Atkinson, a renowned sports analyst, and Joe Mazzulla, an NBA coach. Thank you for joining us today!
Kenny, can you share your thoughts on the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ loss against the Boston Celtics? What was the main reason for their defeat in such a high-profile game?
Kenny Atkinson: Well, Boston played a fantastic game last night. They were consistent throughout the match, never let the Cavaliers get too comfortable, and played with a lot of intensity. However, the Cavaliers need to understand that they cannot rely solely on their early-season form, as every team in the NBA is a threat. They need to work on their defense and maintain their focus for the full 48 minutes to avoid similar results in the future.
Joe, what was your take on the match against the Cavaliers? Were you surprised by the result, and what did you learn from this game?
Joe Mazzulla: First of all, I want to thank the Cavaliers for bringing their A-game last night. It was a tough match, and we knew they would challenge us. One of the things we learned is that we need to maintain our discipline on defense, especially during their scoring runs. We also need to communicate better and stay focused, as complacency can creep in against talented teams like them.
Moving on to the San Antonio Spurs’ victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Mitch Johnson, a Spurs coach, and Jalen Williams, a Thunder player, shared their thoughts on the game.
Mitch, what was your strategy in defeating the number one team in the West? Additionally, how did you manage to contain Jalen Williams, who had an outstanding game statistically?
Mitch Johnson: Our strategy was simple - stay disciplined on defense, move the ball well on offense, and take advantage of our depth. We knew the Thunder would try to push the pace, so we focused on taking care of the ball and making timely shots. As for Jalen, he’s an incredible player, but we stuck to our game plan and contained him
