As the website editor for world-today-news.com, I have arranged an interview with two guests to discuss the latest developments in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
First, we have Lt. Gen. Serhii Pavlenko, a spokesperson for the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Thank you for joining us today, General.
Lt. Gen. Serhii Pavlenko: Thank you for having me. It’s important to share the crucial updates on our defensive efforts with the world.
Secondly, we have Dr. Igor Sutyagin, a Russian military expert and senior research fellow at the Royal United Services Institute, a UK defense and security think tank. Dr. Sutyagin, your insights on the situation in Ukraine are highly valued.
Dr. Igor Sutyagin: Good day. The Russian invasion is a complex issue that requires careful analysis, and I’m pleased to contribute to the discussion.
Host: Great. Let’s begin with the Ukraine’s recent military operations against Russian targets. Can you, Lt. Gen. Pavlenko, give us an overview of the strikes conducted by the Ukrainian Aviation, Missile Forces, and Artillery?
Lt. Gen. Serhii Pavlenko: Certainly. Our forces conducted nine strikes on Russian personnel concentrations, weapons depots, and control stations. We also destroyed a drone control center, an artillery system, and two logistics depots. These strikes aim to degrade Russia’s ability to conduct further attacks and limit their military capabilities.
Host: That’s an impressive show of force by the Ukrainian military. Dr. Sutyagin, do you have any comments on these recent strikes and their potential impact on the war’s trajectory?
Dr. Igor Sutyagin: The Ukrainian military has demonstrated significant resilience and adaptability in conducting these precision strikes. However, it remains to be seen how much damage they have inflicted. The Russian military has also shown an ability to replenish losses quickly, so these strikes may only have a temporary effect.
Host: Moving on to specific sectors of the conflict, we can see that fighting continues in several areas. In the Kharkiv sector, the Ukrainian military
