A New York prosecutor has recommended delaying Donald Trump’s sentencing in the Stormy Daniels case. The prosecutor says in a letter that he believes it is important that Trump continue to be punished after his presidency. He could get up to four years in prison.

Trump was supposed to be sentenced last summer, but the judge postponed his judgment so that it did not affect the presidential elections. The judge was expected to make a decision at the end of this month.

130,000 dollars

Trump was found guilty in May of this year in a case in which he was tried for paying hush money to porn actress Stormy Daniels. He allegedly had sex with her in 2006 and then paid her money without saying anything about it.

He paid Daniels $130,000 before the 2016 presidential election. In principle, this is not punishable. But since the money Trump put into the books was ‘legal fees’, this was against the law, the jury ruled. Trump himself has always denied having sex with Daniels.

Trump’s lawyers argue that he should be granted immunity because most of the evidence used against him in the case was collected while Trump was president. Additionally, the Supreme Court ruled in July that presidents are largely immune in criminal cases.

Trump is the first president to be found guilty in a criminal case. As soon as Trump becomes president, he can plead his case all the way to the highest courts, which will grant him a pardon.

He is on trial in three other cases. In one of these cases, he is suspected of influencing the results of the 2020 election in the state of Georgia. Two federal cases revolve around storming the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and keeping classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago residence.
