Gianluigi Buffonone of football’s most iconic goalkeepers, admits he could have signed the Barcelona in the latter part of his career, but a song prevented him from leaving Italy.
In relation to the presentation of his autobiography, ‘Fall, rise, fall, rise’, Buffon showed once again why he is considered one of the last football romances, as the story led to behind his signing with Barcelona sigh to more than one. .
“I had an offer from Barca as a second goalkeeper, and I liked the idea of playing with Messi after playing with Cristiano,” he told Corriere della Sera about his time at Juventus.
“One day, though, I was driving and a song that I love and haven’t heard in 10 years was playing on the radio;’ Bella de Jovanotti.
“I looked up and saw the Parma tax booth. It was a sign: to close my career where it started,” he admitted.
Buffon started in professional football with Parma in 1995 and it was not until 2023 that he returned to the team that gave him everything in return after one of the most successful careers in football.
In August of that year and even though he had a contract until 2024, Buffon decided to hang up his gloves after a series of injuries and he did so with one sentence: “That’s it, my friends.”

As for the team dynamic, we had an amazing group of players during that time, and we managed to achieve great success without him. So, I wouldn’t say it affected us negatively.
