Fognini out of cut for now
Current 84th in the world, Fabio Fognini will lose the 100 points of his title in Valencia in November 2023. The Italian must therefore “fuel” in Montemar. It is about Luca Nardi110 ATP, entered in Rovereto. Nardi needs the title to reach 637 points. Not easy… Lucas Pouille will also have an eye in South America. Welcome to our interview segment on World Today News. Today, we have two esteemed guests with us – Lucas Pouille, a French professional tennis player and a former ATP tour champion, and Mattia Bellucci, an Italian tennis player who has achieved success in the Challenger tour.
Lucas, you took a pause from the circuit after the Saint-Brieuc Challenger due to a cracked wrist. How are you feeling now and how confident are you about your chances of qualifying for the Australian Open? Also, with around ten players vying for the same number of points, how challenging has this experience been for you?
Lucas Pouille: Hello everyone! I’m happy to be back and feeling much better now. My wrist is healing well, and I’m optimistic about my chances of qualifying for the Australian Open. It’s definitely challenging to see so many competitors going after the same points, but I’m focusing on my game and trying to make the most of this opportunity. I’m just taking it one match at a time and hoping for the best.
Mattia, you recently competed in the Yokohama Challenger but were eliminated in the first round. How are you approaching this situation, considering that you were aiming for those crucial points to qualify for the Australian Open? Additionally, as Lucas mentioned, there are around ten players in pursuit of the same goal. What are your thoughts on this highly competitive scenario?
Mattia Bellucci: Yes, it’s been a tough experience for me as well. I’m still aiming to qualify for the Australian Open, and I’m not giving up just yet. It’s true that competition is intense with so many players chasing the same points, but that only makes it more exciting. I’m learning from my mistakes and preparing for the next opportunity to earn those precious points.
Now, moving on to another topic, Fabio Fognini, who was in a similar situation to Lucas, has lost his 100 points from his Valencia title last year. He must now compete in Montemor, while Damir Džumhur from Bosnia has a chance at the points in Rovereto. How daunting is this task for both of you, and what are your thoughts
