Rowing and solidarity come together in Alicante in a regatta against breast cancer

The fifth Challenge ‘100 Solidarity Shovels SUMA against Breast Cancer’ and ‘SUMA for equality’ It was held last Saturday in Alicante with notable success in terms of participation and organization. In a very supportive atmosphere, a hundred people participated in this event that aims to show support, through rowing, for people suffering from this disease. The Real Club Regatas Alicante acted as host and co-organizer, together with the Valencian Community Rowing Federation, and Suma Gestión Tributaria as main sponsor.

With this regatta, the cycle of Solidarity Challenges against breast cancer organized by the Federation closes. The yacht clubs of Jávea, Denia and Benidorm have also hosted this test in 2024. It is an initiative that the Valencian Community Rowing Federation launched three years ago and that has been consolidated in the annual calendar thanks to the good response, both from the participating clubs and from the athletes and the public.

In addition, this year the SUMA Challenges for Equality were added to this initiative, where athletes with a non-competitive license have the opportunity to live an experience against other teams. In these challenges, teams with mixed crews of both ages and genders have been able to participate.

The regatta was held on Saturday morning inside the Port of Alicante. The weather was good and a total of ten boats from Falucho/Llaüt-Valencià took to the water, organized in two different events. On the one hand, three club teams Club Rem Marina de Denia, Club Náutico Benidorm and Club Regatas de Alicante They participated in the Solidarity Challenge. Each boat in this test was made up of at least eight people who have overcome breast cancer. The distance traveled was 350 meters.
