Mobile unit vaccinations against flu and COVID-19

The mobile vaccination unit against flu and COVID-19 installed this weekend in two towns in the province of Castellón has managed to administer 973 doses against these respiratory viruses.

Specifically, on the morning of Saturday, November 16, a total of 370 flu vaccines and another 260 COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the city of Castelló de la Plana. For its part, on Sunday, November 17, 206 were registered against the flu and 137 against COVID-19 at the mobile vaccination point located in Vila-real.

For the installation of these points, we have had the collaboration of the respective town councils of Castelló de la Plana and Vilareal, under the coordination of the Public Health Center and the Primary Care teams of each Department.

Vaccine campaign open to the entire population

The Ministry of Health continues with the vaccination campaign that is active in any health center in the Valencian Community and which has been open to the entire population since November 4.

The mobile vaccination unit will be on Saturday, November 23 in the Plaza del Tirant in Gandia, and on Sunday the 24th it will be installed in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento in Valencia.

The Ministry reiterates the importance of getting vaccinated against flu and COVID-19, since it is the most effective measure to protect against these viruses and, in turn, avoid possible infections, especially among the vulnerable population with a higher risk of suffering from complications. It should be remembered that there is evidence that the flu vaccine can prevent more than half of the most serious cases in older adults and people at risk.

Among the benefits of the vaccine, it is worth highlighting that, as specialists confirm after various research studies, during the two weeks after the flu, the risk of suffering a myocardial infarction or stroke is multiplied by 4. Likewise, the presence of chronic diseases multiplies by 7 the risk of developing severe flu in older adults, and all of this could be avoided thanks to the vaccine.

Furthermore, emphasis is being placed on the need to administer systematic vaccination, that is, the one corresponding to the vaccination schedule, especially in the child population under 2 years of age who has not yet been immunized.

In this regard, the members of the Public Health response coordination group, made up of experts from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Health, among others, recommend that the population keep the vaccination calendar updated and continue with the vaccination campaign. seasonal flu and COVID-19 vaccination.
