Werder Bremen can continue to build on Jens Stage. At the general meeting, sports director Clemens Fritz announced that the Danish midfielder had extended his contract early. As usual, the new term was not announced.
The 28-year-old Stage moved from FC Copenhagen to Weser in July 2022 for a fee of 4 million euros. He is one of the top performers in coach Ole Werner’s team. The two-time national player has scored ten goals and six assists in 73 games to date. Stage increased its market value from 3.5 million to 9 million euros.
“Jens’ contract extension is another important sign for the team and the entire club, because it underlines that something is developing here that the players can identify with and of which they want to be a part,” explains licensing manager Peter Niemeyer.
Stage added: “It’s just a lot of fun to be on the field with this team for Werder. Since I moved to Bremen, we have continued to develop. We have a clear plan and want to continue to improve. I would like to continue on this path with Werder.”
