An explosion in the construction of an old mosque in the village of Sabyndy, Akola region, which killed three people, was caused by a gas cylinder that had been in use since 1985, Zakon.kz reports.
About this TV channel “KTK” reported official representative of the Emergency Situations Department of Akmola region Ersain Koishibaev.
According to him, the gas cylinder was taken from the cold to a hot room, where the pressure increased due to the increase in temperature, which led to an explosion. The service life of gas cylinders is 30 years, but in this case it was exceeded by eight years.
Six gas cylinders were recovered from the debris. 16 people were injured and taken to hospitals in Astana. Among them are three children between 13 and 16 years old, who are in a serious condition with burns up to 40% of the body.
