Several concerts at the Rostock University of Music and Theater will take you into the expectant mood of the pre-Christmas season. The program of the traditional concert “Festive Trumpet Sounds” with students from the wind department and under the artistic direction of Professor Christian Packmohr includes contemplative Advent chorales as well as baroque works in different instrumentations. It will take place on Monday, December 2nd, 2024 at 8 p.m. in the Organ Hall.
The concert by the Mecklenburg Wind Academy on Sunday, December 8th, at 3 p.m. in the foyer of the hmt Rostock also contains Christmas music. In addition to the Fledermaus Overture by Johann Strauss, Mozart’s Serenade in C minor KV 388 and the Wind Octet Op. 65 by Ruth Gipps, the popular Nutcracker Suite by Peter Tchaikovsky will be heard.
Admission to these concerts is €15.00 (reduced €10.00) plus the box office surcharge. There is free entry for students with the culture ticket.
The students of Professor Martina Rüping’s singing class invite you to another Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 10th at 8 p.m. in the Chamber Music Hall. They sing Advent and Christmas songs. Admission to this concert, like the following event, is free.
On Sunday, December 15th, the brass players of the hmt Rostock will give a Christmas concert in the chamber music hall of the university in the afternoon at 3 p.m. Students in the classes of Bertold Stecher, Prof. Ignacio García, Prof. Jamie Williams and Andreas Luhn play works by Samuel Scheidt, Johann Hermann Schein, Enrique Crespo, Erich Zeller and Anton Bruckner.
