In the history of the Major Leagues, only three Latino managers have been awarded the prestigious award. Manager of the Year. Felipe Alou, Tony Peña y Ozzie Guillen They are the only ones to have achieved this honor, standing out for their impressive leadership and strategy skills.

Felipe Aloua Dominican, was the first to win the award in 1994, directing the Montreal Expos to a record of 74-40 before the season was canceled due to a players’ strike. Tony Penaalso from the Dominican Republic, received the award in 2003 after leading the Kansas City Royals to a significant improvement with a record of 83-79. The Venezuelan Ozzie Guillen took the award in 2005, guiding the Chicago White Sox to a 99-63 record and winning the World Series that same year.

Mendoza has had a notable career in baseball, both as a player and a coach. Before becoming a manager, he worked as a bench coach for the New York Yankees and has been recognized for his dedication and knowledge of the game. His experience and skills make him a strong candidate for the Manager of the Year award.
