Counter Reconquest

This Tuesday, November 19, the Reconquête Isère party is organizing a rally at Place Saint-André in Grenoble. A counter-rally is organized at 7 p.m. at Place Notre-Dame, at the call of several Grenoble anti-fascist organizations.

For what ? How ?

Here is the call from Ras le Front, AFA, NPA and Solidaires:

“After the “tribute to Philippine” rally on 02/10, Marine Chiaberto, departmental delegate of Reconquête Isère, calls for a new rally on November 19 at Place Saint André in Grenoble.

Under the cover of a tribute to Thomas killed last year in Crépol and to Nicolas killed in Saint Peray a few weeks ago, the Reconquête party wishes to once again pour out its racist and violently anti-immigration speech by brazenly exploiting the crimes which have were victims Thomas and Nicolas.

We are not fooled by the call for a so-called “apartisan tribute” and strongly condemn the racist recovery of these murders. We do not tolerate Reconquest and other far-right organizations spreading hatred and fueling their political agendas based on these tragedies.

We will not give up in the face of attempts at recovery by the extreme right and the resumption of their pseudo concepts by the Minister of the Interior and the President of the Republic who speak of “wilding” and “decivilization” thereby offering so many political victories for the far right.

Above all, this rhetoric has concrete consequences: the trivialization of physical violence as well as the dissemination of racist remarks against residents of working-class neighborhoods and racist attacks as may have been the case in Romans-sur-Isère when far-right thugs from all over France met for a punitive expedition.

In Romans, Grenoble or elsewhere, let’s not let the extreme right express its hatred.”
