Japan, number one team in the world, and Chinese Taipei (Taiwan, number two in the world) secured their ticket to the Super Round of the Premier 12 after signing respective victories, on Sunday, on the penultimate day of Group B activity.

The defending champion, Japan, beat Cuba by a tight score of 7-6, in an exciting game that was played under a light drizzle before a capacity of 5,000 fans at Taipei’s Tianmu Stadium. It was the first Premier12 match played between the two powers of international baseball.
The victory against the Cuban team represents the fourth for Japan, which thus confirms itself as leader of Group B even with a game pending against the Dominican Republic team.
For its part, Cuba is tied with Australia and the Dominican Republic itself, with a record of one victory and three losses.
Japan plays the Dominican Republic on the final day of Group B on Monday, while Cuba faces Chinese Taipei.
Meanwhile, at the Taipei Dome, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) beat Australia 11-3.
