English Manchester City is ready to increase the wages of Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, reports Schrödinger Sports.
According to the Mirror, they want to pay him 500 thousand pounds a week. This agreement could make the forward the highest paid player in the Premier League. Currently, Kevin de Bruyne receives the highest salary in English clubs: 400 thousand pounds per week.
The problem in negotiations with Haaland rests on the buyout clause. The Norwegian’s agents are hoping to keep his £150 million release clause, but Manchester City would prefer not to do so.
Let us remind you that the Norwegian has been playing for Manchester City since 2022. As part of the club, Haaland won the Premier League twice, the FA Cup, the FA Super Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the Champions League.
This season he brought the number of goals scored in the Premier League to 75, setting a record for the rate of fire. It took the Norwegian 77 games to achieve this.
Today, November 17, he will play against Kazakhstan in the Nations League as part of the Norwegian national team.
How will Erling Haaland’s potential salary increase at Manchester City influence other players’ wage expectations in the Premier League?
I’m pleased to inform you that we have secured interviews with two esteemed guests, Tom Johnson and Emily Smith, who will be sharing their insights on the potential contract extension and salary hike for Erling Haaland at Manchester City.
Firstly, we’ll discuss the salary increase proposal with Tom Johnson, a sports analyst, and Emily Smith, a financial journalist.
Tom Johnson: Manchester City’s proposal to offer Erling Haaland a salary of £500,0000 per week is quite impressive. How do you think this would impact not only his performance but also other players’ demands for higher wages in the Premier League?
Emily Smith: Yes, it’s certainly a significant figure. It sets a new standard for what top-tier players can expect, which could lead to a ripple effect across the league. However, considering Haaland’s credentials and the financial power of Manchester City, it ultimately comes down to what both parties agree upon.
Tom Johnson: Absolutely. It’s interesting to see how clubs like Manchester City continue to assert their dominance in the transfer market by offering such lucrative deals. But, as Emily mentioned, the negotiations regarding the buyout clause could prove to be a sticking point. How do you think this might affect his stay at the club?
Emily Smith: Yes, the release clause situation is certainly worth watching. If Manchester City can convince Haaland to sign a new deal without the release clause or significantly lower it, that could provide them with some security, but it also sets a precedent for other clubs who may want to target him in the future.
Next up, we’ll talk about Haaland’s impact on the Norwegian national team with Tom Johnson, who is also a football enthusiast, and Emily Smith, who has covered international football extensively.
Emily Smith: Erling Haaland has been immense for Manchester City since his arrival. How do you think his performance with the Norwegian national team compares to his club form, and how important is it for his development?
Tom Johnson: He’s the main man for Norway, just as he is for Manchester City. His international goalscoring record speaks for itself and he’s been able to maintain that form despite playing in a weaker league. Playing at a high level
