Far from the catastrophe in Valencia or the serious problems that damage has caused in recent weeks in other territories of the country, the city of Burgos is going through a month of November with an unusual calm that stands out above all for the high temperatures recorded in its first week. A new detail of the upward trend registered in recent decades.
In this case, only in the first eight days of the month the average temperature reached 12.2 degrees, “a positive anomaly” (defined as this by the State Meteorological Agency) that exceeded the average values recorded in 5.4 degrees. the reference thirty-year period between 1991-2020.
During those 30 years, thermometers moved an average of 6.8 degrees. For this reason, this beginning of November was considered “extraordinarily warm for the average temperature” with minimum temperatures of 9.2 or 7.5 degrees (on days 1 and 3) or maximum temperatures that touched 20 degrees.
It happened on the 6th, when the mercury stood at 19.9 degrees at the Villafría station. That was the highest reference, but throughout that initial period, 16 degrees were exceeded.
The change in trend last week brought the first cold days of autumn, although only occasionally and the low temperatures are not expected to continue. In fact, Aemet’s forecast “in general terms” suggests that the second “will continue to be warm”, although the ‘heat’ will also give prominence to records typical of the time of year or even below. This is expected, for example, for the next few hours.
