Karate champion and teacher, yoga and meditation teacher, influencer and founder of the method FightGently. Vanessa Villa it is a concentration of psychophysical strength, tenacity and determination. A “kind warrior”, that is, “a person who fights kindly for her values and to be a better person”, she explains. «Because better people mean pieces of the world that make others feel good. And the more we improve ourselves, the more the world becomes a wonderful place to inhabit.”
Originally from Riccione, 32 years old, mother of Cosmo (19 months), third dan black belt, Vanessa was five times Italian champion in team karate (as captain) and once individually in the specialty of kata, a competition in which they perform kicks and punches individually or in teams, imagining that they have the opponent in front of them. In this specialty, which simulates a fight, victory is achieved by performing the athletic gesture in the correct way and showing confidence in the movements. As she herself explains, «to triumph in the kata it is essential to know the techniques performed perfectly and in the case of team competition it is also necessary to synchronize the movements with those of the other athletes».
On the women’s side
Today, her goal is to make karate experience available to women to teach them some basic self-defense techniques. To do this he created FightGentlya method but also a community of people who think like her.
The namesake online site collects free videos with meditations, yoga practices, martial arts, and in general more than 400 free classes. «I also have a podcast, it’s called FightGently Talks», he adds. «I interview people who can offer inspiration to train our awareness and improve ourselves. What I want is to communicate to as many people as possible, with the tools I have available, that you can work on yourself.”
Kick and Fightthe express course to learn small self-defense tricks
One of the latest projects is the course Kick and Fight – I’m not afraid, that Vanessa Villa organized together with the Kickboxing champion and master Angelo Valente: Sunday 24 November, from 4pm to 6pm, at the yoga and wellness centre The Garden in Viale Monte Nero, 80 in Milan, the two champions will make their experience available to women who want to learn to defend themselves. «This is a single free appointment and is aimed at all those people who are a little afraid and don’t feel safe walking around the streets of Milan», underlines the champion. «In two hours we will do mindfulness, meditation, breathing, posture, stress management practices and give small suggestions (for example, how to stand in front of an ATM), completed by real physical training (based on punches and kicks ) led by Angelo», explains Vanessa.

Can you please introduce yourself briefly and tell us about your background in martial arts and meditation?
Vanessa Villa: Of course! I’m Vanessa Villa, a 32-year-old karate champion and mother from Riccione. I hold a third-degree black belt and have been training in karate for over 20 years. My passion for the sport led me to teach it to others, and I’ve also studied yoga and meditation, which I incorporate into my teaching.
