Romanos for the deletion of Samaras: “Samaras’ claims were based on fake news – You can’t call the Foreign Minister discounter” (Video) –

The press representative of the party, Nikos Romanos, spoke to Mega about the deletion of Antonis Samaras and the developments in New Democracy.

Speaking on the show “Developments Now”, Mr. Romanos pointed out: “But what we saw yesterday – and it’s a big qualitative difference – is that Mr. Samaras for the first time clearly questioned the patriotism of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and therefore of the government, asking for his resignation on the one hand and on the other hand he insulted the president of the Republic of Cyprus by talking about “gifts”.

“Mr. Samara’s position is based on distortions, propaganda and fake news

As the press representative of New Democracy pointed out, in this case “there is a significant qualitative difference compared to any other position, which also repeated over and over again arguments based on distortions, propaganda and fake news”.

“When you distort a statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in this case to “build” the narrative of compromise, it is obviously “cutting edge” and is fake news,” he pointed out.

In reference to Samaras’ proposal for the next President of the Republic, the press representative of New Democracy noted: “I think it is inelegant, when in every public statement we say that it is untimely to discuss this particular issue.”

“The debate (on the election of a new President of the Republic) opens institutionally and systematically. It is another thing when a former prime minister opens such a discussion involving Konstantinos Karamanlis, who had no knowledge, as the circles around him leaked,” he added.

“2024 is not 1993 – We have three years of work ahead of us”

Asked about the early election scenarios, Nikos Romanos replied: “2024 is not 1993”

“At the moment the ND is and remains the strongest and most compact parliamentary group in the Greek parliament. We have three years of work ahead of us, in order to continue to have tangible results for the citizens on the same path we set out in 2019, so that we can be judged with the same rigor by everyone at the end of these three years”, he concluded.
