Sunday 17 November 2024 – The cultural project entitled has ended “I care”promoted byAssociation “From Basilicata to Italy, we leave no one behind”.
Started in 2020 and aimed at the young generations, the last event took place last November 15th once again in the Salt Room of the Magadì Multifunctional Beauty Center in Via Appia in Potenza: 20 former pupils of the primary school of the Milani School Institute were involved – Leopardi, now sixth grade students of the school, reading and listening to the final pages of the famous story “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Objective: the analysis of the meaning offered by the story: to remember that the loneliness felt by men throughout life is counterbalanced by the constant presence of someone or something (even and above all immaterial) that could also make them happy.
The outcome of the project was extremely satisfactory, with the overall participation of hundreds of girls and boys, together with their families.
Numerous and different places have been chosen over the years: public squares and parks, listening rooms and private apartments organized for the occasion.
Personally accompanying the participants was Ms president of the association “From Basilicata to Italy, we leave no one behind”, Rita Marsicoteacher at the Milani – Leopardi School Institute, who wanted to instill a new look on the complexity of life.
In 2024 the choice to make the Salt Cave available – a place with beneficial properties, which promoted being together and created the right application – in which thehighly educational experience focused on the emotional understanding of the different moments and characters contained in the story of The Little Prince.

Since last October, the association has also been carrying out the project The Red Box – born as part of the memorandum of understanding with BCC Monte Pruno – aimed at requests for help from women victims of violence and other vulnerable people.
The President Marsico – awarded the 2023 Globus Award for her commitment to volunteering – also announced that the Potenza association is currently working on solidarity initiatives for the Christmas holidays and the beginning of 2025.

President Rita Marsico: The project “I care” started in 2020 with the aim of reaching out to young generations in Italy. It was a highly educational initiative targeting emotional understanding through the reading of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s famous story “The Little Prince.” The idea was to instill in children the importance of caring for others and fighting against loneliness. We chose the association’s motto, “From Basilicata to Italy, we leave no one behind,” which reflects our commitment to supporting people who might feel left out or abandoned. Involving children from an early age is crucial for promoting these values, and we believe that the Association played a significant role in achieving this.
Interviewer: Ms. Marsico mentioned that the Salt Cave was a unique venue for the final event of the project. How did this setting contribute to the overall experience and the story’s message?
Sixth-grade Student 1: The Salt Cave gave us a peaceful and cozy atmosphere where we could deeply engage with the story. The dim lighting and soothing environment helped us concentrate on the emotions of the characters in the book. Moreover, the setting was perfect for discussing the meaning of loneliness and how it affects people’s lives.
Sixth-grade Student 2: I agree. The Salt Cave felt like a safe haven where we could share our thoughts and feelings about the story without any distractions. It made us realize that even if someone might feel alone, they are never truly alone; there will always be someone or something that can make them happy.
