Wright will also become a member of the newly created National Energy Council, Trump announced. Trump praised Wright as a “leading technologist and entrepreneur in the energy sector.” Liberty Energy, based in Denver, Colorado, promotes innovative solutions to the controversial oil and natural gas extraction through fracking.

Wright is in favor of promoting fossil fuels and has been critical of the global climate movement in the past. According to US media reports, he is said to have been recommended by influential conservatives, including oil and gas tycoon Harold Hamm, to head the Energy Department. The Energy Council is intended to coordinate all aspects of energy production and use in the USA and advance the goal of “energy dominance”.
Trump has already caused a sensation with his outstanding personalities. Ministerial positions usually have to be confirmed by the Senate. Several Republicans in the chamber have already said they have some questions for the candidates. However, Trump is putting pressure on his party colleagues in the Senate to circumvent the complex confirmation process through an exception.
