Vérane Dupoué grew tired of her difficult working conditions in a hospital environment and made the choice to launch itself as carer in the country of Retz.
Its story begins 10 years ago. The young woman from Corsept (Loire-Atlantique) was then employed as an ASQH (Qualified Hospital Service Agent) on the Guérande Peninsula within the home nursing service.
Four crossings of the bridge…
She works in cut“from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. then from 4:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.”, while she had her house built on Corsept.
“So I had to cross the bridge four times a day. I decided to join the Saint-Nazaire Hospital in January 2021, where I had been on a fixed-term contract since then, while waiting for my tenure,” says the young woman.
Difficult working conditions
But at the beginning of November 2024, she reaches the end of her contract and decides not to not renew it.
I resigned because of the working conditions. We asked for a hotel agent, because there were two nursing assistants in our area, one who installed the patients and cleaned their toilets; the other who prepared breakfasts. Then we had to clear out, do the dishes, while managing all the call bells. We didn’t really start treatment until 9 a.m.

“We were robots, it was on an assembly line”
Despite the mobilization of the unions and the press, the management of the establishment did not immediately react, and Vérane threatened to resign with one of his colleagues.
“Finally we had a part-time hotel agent, 3 hours a day. It was good, but insufficient. The damage was done, I was fed up. In the end, two of us resigned and there are still departures planned within the Medical Care and Geriatric Rehabilitation (SMRG) department.”
During this period, we also had a lot of work stoppages. I ended up quitting myself. I couldn’t take it anymore.

A project matured since 2021

» I have an hour to take a shower! “
And in a sector including the Sud Estuaire community of communes and the Jade Coast up to Pornic.
“These can be regular or irregular contracts, for people leaving hospitalization for example. Now I have an hour to shower, whereas before I had 20 minutes to do everything. I find myself, it gives meaning to my work.”
