According to the power generation business plan submitted by Company A, it is estimated that the four power generation facilities for which permission has been applied will utilize residual heat from medical and industrial waste incineration facilities that are scheduled to be applied for in the future.

However, when Company A submits a detailed power generation plan to the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province this week, a review of administrative and legal suitability is expected to take place.

Accordingly, local residents have continued to oppose the project out of concern that various environmental factors arising from the power generation project will have repercussions not only for residents of nearby villages but also for the entire Jangsu County.

Jangsu-gun also conducted a comprehensive review of various laws and ordinances regarding power generation facilities and responded to the Jeonbuk Special Provincial Government with an opposing opinion that the project site was not suitable for power generation projects due to various restrictions.

According to Jangsu-gun, Company A has not yet submitted business plan documents to the Jeonbuk Regional Environmental Office for the medical and industrial waste treatment facility, which is expected to be implemented in connection with the power generation facility.

The emergency response committee opposing the permit for waste disposal and power generation facilities in Janggye-myeon said, “Jangsu-gun is a clean area and its main business is the production of food, livestock and livestock products, and maintaining a clean environment is an issue directly related to the survival of Jangsu-gun residents, so this project is for our region.” “They must never come in,” he said. “It has been decided to disallow the power generation project, but as it has not yet been clearly decided whether to locate a medical or industrial waste incineration facility on the site, we will continue to actively work in solidarity with local residents and civil society groups.” He expressed his opposition, saying, “We will respond.”
