Subway will introduce the new restaurant design “Fresh Forward 2.0” from 2025. With the revised concept, the company not only wants to further improve the guest experience, but also increasing the comfort and strengthening the profitability of its franchisees.
Since the original Fresh Forward design was launched in 2017, more than 20,000 Subway restaurants around the world have updated their look. The aim was to reposition the brand, increase sales and provide a fresher experience for both the team and guests. The new version of the design, Fresh Forward 2.0, builds on these successes with more vibrant decorative elements, local wall graphics, modern lighting, warmer wood tones and better integration of digital sales channels to strengthen the brand more.
“When Subway launched Fresh Forward, it was just a redesign—it was a complete refresh and necessary to attract guests and make our restaurant teams proud,” said Mike Kehoe, chief executive officer Subway global development. “Fresh Forward 2.0 is an exciting design evolution that will ensure we continue to future-proof our business and deliver on our brand promises of experience and convenience for our guests and franchisees.”
According to the company, the new design has been widely tested and received constant feedback from guests, franchisees and their teams. Concept studies show that the modern environment increases the likelihood that customers will visit Subway more often.
Digitalization in focus
In addition to the new design, Subway also continues to move forward with digital transformation. The company is already testing self-service kiosks, ordering screens and digital kitchen display systems in many markets. These are intended not only to increase comfort for guests, but also to make restaurant processes more efficient and give franchisees better control.
“The design of each restaurant was an important milestone for Subway and got us to where we are today,” said Kehoe. “Fresh Forward 2.0 stands out as a design with the ability to maximum impact on our guests and voters as it puts our marketing, culinary and digital efforts at the forefront.”
Introduction around the world
The first restaurants with Fresh Forward 2.0 will open their doors in the coming months. Among the pioneers are places in the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, Panama and Australia.
