Béatrice M’Barkpresident and founder of the Info Rein Santé association in 2019, wishes to organize in Pont-Audemer (Eure), new spaces for speech for people with kidney disease. “One in ten people suffer from kidney disease and 20% do not yet know it. Not everyone has access to information when it is needed. This disease is silent. Diabetes and hypertension are the cause of 50% of cases,” informs Béatrice.

Be informed as soon as possible

You should know that 11,000 people enter dialysis each year and sometimes in absolute extreme urgency. This figure continues to increase. When the kidneys no longer function, dialysis should be started or, if possible, a transplant should be considered. 92,000 people in France are in this case, including 55% on dialysis and 45% on transplant. The transplant allows a better quality of life but this solution is not always possible.

The Info Rein Santé association aims to enable everyone to become an actor in their health. Its mission is to inform those who wish to know about kidney disease and its daily life. “The care pathway linked to kidney disease is complex. Having access to all the information as early as possible allows you to adapt your care path to your life without suffering the illness and gain autonomy and the ability to communicate with your healthcare team”, specifies Béatrice who adds that “people affected of this disease feel the need to meet and exchange with other people affected like them, by the same pathology.

For several years, the association has been working with another association, Planeth Patientto the development of therapeutic patient education. These are workshops during which people develop skills that allow them to better cope with their chronic illness on a daily basis.

Video meetings on Tuesday evening

Numerous actions are undertaken by the association to disseminate information to as many people as possible. On the local level, Béatrice M’Bark, intervenes at the François-Lemarchand health center and at the Hospital Center for the two days of prevention, during the Kidney Weekend in March. “I also organize video meetings every Tuesday evening as part of the seREIN Circle, for patients affected by chronic kidney disease, on dialysis, transplant recipients or waiting for replacement. It is a space for them to express themselves and share their experiences. »

These meetings can also focus on a specific subject with the intervention of health professionals, a specialist, a dietitian or a nephrologist. “But I noticed that the participants in these meetings resided in regions outside Normandy territory where we have nevertheless listed at least 800 people affected by the disease.” It is for this reason that Béatrice wishes organize the same meetings in person to reach as many people as possible in Pont-Audemer and surrounding communities: “These free meetings will take place in a room in Pont-Audemer. Schedules will be set based on requests. I invite all interested people to join me in opening this new local space for discussion as soon as possible,” concludes Béatrice M’Bark.
