The cultural program of the Provincial Council of Cuenca, Books travel through the province, has closed the autumn edition in Valeria with the presentation of Emilio del Río and his book Crazy for the classics. An event that has marked a milestone in participation by bringing together 280 readers from across the province.
During the celebration, the Deputy for Culture, María Ángeles Martínez, highlighted the role of these initiatives to promote the love of reading and energize cultural life, especially in rural areas.
In this autumn edition, the program has included three meetings: the presentation of The history of vertebrates by Mar García Puig in Cuenca capital, a meeting with Manuel Loureiro and his work When the storm passes in Iniesta, and the closing with Emilio del River in Valeria. These events, organized with the involvement of reading clubs, have brought together hundreds of readers attracted by their favorite authors.
In this case, there have been about twenty clubs that have participated, both from Cuenca capital and other towns such as Villares del Saz, Minglanilla, El Peral, Villanueva de la Jara, Carboneras de Guadazaón, Motilla del Palancar, Villalpardo, Campillo from Altobuey, Olmedilla, Pozorrubio, Valverde de Júcar, La Roda, Tarancón, Villamayor
During the presentation. The author told the secret of his work that invites us to discover the classic authors of Greek and Roman culture. For this reason, the setting chosen could not have been any better than the town of Valeria where readers have been able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere.
The meeting concluded with a guided tour of the Valeria Archaeological Park, where attendees were able to appreciate one of the most complete Roman forums on the peninsula, and the engineering works that surround the vestiges of its great buildings.
The cultural program will resume in spring with new activities led by writers Pedro Simón and Luis García Jambrina.
