An American-style entry. President-elect Donald Trump and several of his allies, including billionaire Elon Musk, attended the UFC 309 MMA event on Saturday at Madison Square Garden in New York.
A few hours before the main poster of the evening, between American heavyweights Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, the 78-year-old Republican made a triumphant return to Madison Square Garden, the hall where he had organized a controversial meeting less than two weeks before the presidential election.
A comedian made comments there that were later denounced as racist towards the Puerto Rican population.
Donald Trump is a regular at UFC evenings, where he is regularly acclaimed, accompanied by the organization’s boss Dana White, an active supporter during the electoral campaign and appeared on stage during his victory speech on November 6.
Surrounded by his future ministers
In a scripted entry, Trump appeared surrounded by several of his relatives and allies, including Elon Musk, Bobby Kennedy Junior, Tulsi Gabbard, Vivek Ramaswamy and the leader of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson.
Acclaimed by chants of “USA, USA” from the crowd, he warmly greeted the evening’s presenters, including his support Joe Rogan, before sitting down at the foot of the cage.
The giant screen in the New York room broadcast a clip of Trump’s victorious election campaign.
In his first fight since March 2023, American MMA star Jon Jones retained his UFC heavyweight championship belt by knocking out his compatriot Stipe Miocic.
