Going into the international break with a defeat – Basketball Hagen

Phoenix top scorer: Tim Uhlemann puts up 16 points / Double-doubles for Naz Bohannon and Sin Carry / Harris: “Play shows how balanced the league is”

Nürnberg Falcons BC vs. Phoenix Hagen 80:71
(22 : 11 | 18 : 20 | 19 : 20 | 21 : 20)

Hagen didn’t get going offensively at all in the first half. Throws from distance were rarely made (5/16 three-pointers, 31.3 percent hit rate), but at least the defense generated enough stops to keep the deficit in the single digits at halftime (40:31, 20th minute).

After the break, the guests made a strong start Tim Uhlemann (16 points) attempted a delicate comeback, but unnecessary ball losses and too few compelling attempts at the end prevented the turnaround. Instead, Nuremberg pulled away again before Phoenix was able to close the gap again on the home straight – but it was no longer enough to prevent the Franconians from winning their first win of the season.

Chris Harris (HC Phoenix Hagen):

“Nuremberg deserved to win. The game was once again proof of how incredibly balanced the league is. Overall, we didn’t do enough to get a win here today – which was also because the Falcons took a lot of things away from us. When we see each other again in the Ischelandhalle during the second half of the season, we will have to do a lot of things better.”

Ralph Junge (HC Nuremberg Falcons BC):

“This victory is a huge weight off our hearts. This is all the more important for us as we use it to reward ourselves for a strong week of training. Now it’s time to define our own level as we move forward. Hagen is having a great season, which is why we are already looking forward to the second leg.”
