Israel‘s military said a synagogue was hit by a “large barrage of rockets” fired by Hezbollah.
The attack by the Lebanese organization took place on the evening of Saturday, November 16, in the northwestern Israeli city of Haifa, injuring two people.
«This is yet another clear example of how Hezbollah deliberately targets Israeli civilians” from southern Lebanon, the army announced.
In another statement, the Israeli army emphasized that “about 10 rockets” launched towards Haifa Bay. Some, according to the same source, from which they were intercepted.
Hezbollah’s statement
In a statement, the Lebanese movement said five bases were targeted in Haifa and Carmel, further south.
Earlier, the Shiite movement emphasized that it had hit an Israeli tank a few kilometers from the border, inside Lebanese territory, with a “missile”. Hezbollah fighters targeted “a Merkava tank on the outskirts of the village of Samaa (in southern Lebanon) with a guided missileHezbollah said in a statement.
Lebanon: A large family was killed by an Israeli airstrike
At least six people, including three children, were killed on Saturday. Eleven others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a village in eastern Lebanon, Lebanon’s health ministry said.
According to state news agency ANI, the six dead are all members of the same family.
“A raid by the Israeli enemy in Khraibeh killed six people, including three children, while 11 people, including five children, were injured,” according to the announcement of the Ministry of Health, clarifying that two wounded are hospitalized in a “critical condition” .
Dead doctors and paramedics
Earlier Saturday, Israeli shelling in southern Lebanon killed two doctors and wounded four other rescuers, while two are still missing, Lebanon’s health ministry said.
The airstrikes also targeted areas of Beirut’s southern suburbs, which Israel says are controlled by Hezbollah. This is the fifth straight day of shelling in the area, with at least 15 airstrikes on Saturday alone, Israeli military sources told The Associated Press.
The Israeli military said the attacks were targeting Hezbollah infrastructure, including a weapons depot and a command center.
A soldier was killed during a battle in southern Lebanon, the Israeli army said on Saturday.
From the Lebanese authorities there has been no update yet on the losses from the strikes in the southern suburbs of the capital.
