Davos’ winning streak ends – Bern wins the duel against Zug: the 26 goals in the five games in the video
There were five games on the program in the 21st round of the Ice Hockey National League on Saturday. The highlights can be found here in the video.
SC Bern – EV Zug 3:2 aet
On Wednesday, Bern won 6-1 in Zug. Three days later, the EVZ fought back, but had to leave the ice again as losers. Zug led 2-1 until the 56th minute, but then lost 2-3 after extra time. Marco Lehmann equalized 2-2 with his eleventh goal of the season in the 56th minute. It was a strange goal: First Lehmann missed the open goal, then Romain Loeffel hit the post, but the puck bounced off the post in front of Lehmann’s feet and he scored to make it 2-2. And there was a happy ending for Loeffel too: in the second minute of overtime he scored the 3-2 winning goal for Bern. Loeffel scored for the first time in the Bern uniform (and for the third time overall) in extra time.
HC Ajoie – HC Ambri-Piotta 4:2
HC Ajoie took advantage of the moment against the struggling Ambri. The Leventiners traveled to Pruntrut with four defeats in a row. Thanks to two power play goals, Ajoie was able to celebrate his fourth win of the season, the first under new coach Greg Ireland, whose debut was unsuccessful on Friday. Ajoie has won all of the last three home games. Julius Nättinen and Jerry Turkulainen both scored three points (1 goal, 2 assists each); Philip-Michael Devos scored two goals.
HC Davos – HC Fribourg-Gottéron 2:3
After seven wins in a row, HC Davos had to admit defeat again on home ice. Josh Holden’s team led twice, but failed to extend their lead. The decisive scene took place shortly before the end: Filip Zadina was sent to the shower early after a knee check; Jacob de la Rose scored the winning goal for Gottéron 3-2 on the power play 35 seconds before the end. In the first period, Lucas Wallmark left injured after being hit in the face by a linesman’s skate.
EHC Biel – SCL Tigers 0:1
Langnau’s goalie Stéphane Charlin handed in his calling card in Biel. Charlin saved 24 shots in his SCL Tigers’ 1-0 win against EHC Biel. Charlin had his second shutout of the season. Charlin had already dominated all goalie rankings: he conceded by far the fewest goals per game (1.36) and, with a league average of 91.84%, he also clearly had the best catch rate (over 96 percent). Charlin is making things increasingly difficult for Langnau’s second goalie Luca Boltshauser: In the last nine games, Charlin conceded fewer goals (14) than Boltshauser in his last four appearances. With Charlin, Langnau scored 15 of his last 16 points. Oskars Lapinskis scored the winning goal for the SCL Tigers in Biel in the 19th minute.
Genève-Servette HC – EHC Kloten 4:5 nV
In the Champions Hockey League, Servette shone on Tuesday with a 5-0 away win in Lausanne. The Geneva team already has one foot in the quarter-finals of the European Cup. But things aren’t going well at Servette’s core business: The Servettiens lead 3-1 early against Kloten thanks to three power play goals, but lose 4-5 after extra time. Miro Aaltonen scored Kloten’s winning goal just 21 seconds into extra time.
