Anastasia Roubtsova (Russian: Анастасия Рубцова), born June 23, 1992, is a Russian long-distance runner specializing in skyrunning. She won the 2024 Skyrunner World Series.
Anastasia Roubtsova practiced hiking during her youth and then took up mountaineering during her studies. She then met her future husband who introduced her to running and left Moscow to join him in Vladivostok. After the birth of her children, she gave up mountaineering and devoted herself more to running. Her past practice of mountaineering pushed her to try the technical discipline of skyrunning where she excelled in her debut by winning the 25 kilometer event during the Arkhyz X Run Alpindustria Trail in 2021[1],[2].
She revealed herself on the national scene in 2022. On May 7, she won the Red Fox Elbrus SkyMarathon, winning fifteen minutes ahead of her closest rival.[3]. On June 25, she won her first national title by winning the Russian skyrunning championships run as part of the Tigertish Race[4].
She makes her debut in international competition in 2023 and takes part in the Skyrunner World Series under a neutral banner. During her first round on the Matterhorn Ultraks Extreme, she created a surprise by taking the lead halfway through and winning ahead of the favorites[5].
In 2024, she will abandon most national competitions to concentrate on the Skyrunner World Series. On May 5, after a long journey from Vladivostok, she fought against the American Bailey Kowalczyk on the Skyrace des Matheysins and managed to make the difference to win the victory.[6]. On June 29, she led the Kaiserkrone SkyRace from start to finish and won in 4 h 4 min 20 s, setting a new women’s record for the course.[7]. On August 23, she dominated the Matterhorn Ultraks Extreme and won with a 34-minute lead over her closest pursuer.[8]. On October 5, she went to Thailand to participate in the Inthanon SkyRace which she dominated again, beating the Czech Marcela Vašínová by almost half an hour.[9]. She continues with the 2 Peaks SkyRace in South Korea. She won her fifth victory of the season and sits comfortably at the top of the general classification.[10]. During the SkyMasters final run as part of the Marató dels Dements in Eslida, she ran in the lead which she exchanged several times with Júlia Font. She manages to accelerate halfway and breaks away alone in the lead. She won in 5:38:53 and set a new women’s record for the course. Thanks to her sixth victory in six participations, she logically won the general classification having delivered a perfect season[11].
