It had already happened, this time without even a plate of gnocchi made up of leftovers: “Madam, your son has no credit, come and get him back.” No alert, not even this time, and a debt, this time too, of 8 euros, equal to two tickets and something in the sixth class.
The manager changes, Coselp instead of EP, the school changes, the Collodi nursery school instead of Di Nello, the purchasing and contracting municipality, that of Sulmona, does not change.
Another case of a child left without a meal because the parents forgot to top up the credit on the portal.
It happened a few days earlier, on November 6th: at 12.30 pm the phone call to the mother of the 5 year old boy, who was forced to return home because there was no cover for him. And not even a plate of gnocchi remedied.
The mother, who was also convalescent, was forced to rush out of the house and go to Via Dalmazia so as not to leave her little son hungry.
The story comes to light today, after Il Germe lifted the lid on a wrong system, whose “dysfunctions”, as the mayor Gianfranco Di Piero defined them, have hopefully been corrected, as the mayor promised.
Di Nello’s story, therefore, is not isolated and perhaps not even that of Collodi. Who knows how many other children have been forced into forced dieting and embarrassment. How many didn’t say it out of modesty or shame. Hoping, from now on, there won’t be any more. That perverse system whereby the place setting is removed from the children’s table, even before the parents are notified of the exhaustion of the credit, has been definitively archived. Hoping that a phone call will never come again to warn that a child cannot eat at school.
