Germany have easily qualified for the semi-finals of the Nations League as group winners. With help from Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, the Germans cruised to a 7-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in Freiburg.
With one game left to play in Group 3 of the top division of the Nations League, Germany are assured of first place in the group. The Netherlands, who beat Hungary 4-0 in Amsterdam, finished second in the group and qualified for the semi-finals.
Julian Nagelsmann’s team has not lost a game yet, only drawing against the Netherlands (2-2). He also conceded only three goals.
On a cold afternoon in the south of Germany, Germany warmed itself and its fans with a lightning fast medley. They were better before half-time, after Musiala put the Germans ahead after just two minutes.
Germany decided the match before halftime (3-0) with striker Tim Kleindienst (touch) and midfielder Kai Havertz (slide). And after half-time, Germany quietly continued the performance.
Wirtz sank a free kick five minutes after the break, which surprised the goalkeeper (4-0). The tap-in he did a few minutes later (5-0) was much easier.
After an hour of play, Nagelsmann thought it was time for substitutes. Stars Musiala and Wirtz left, and Serge Gnary and Leroy Sané, among others, came on. Sané only needed six minutes to score (6-0). Kleindienst also entered in the seventh ten minutes from the end.
The only German stoppage of the evening was the failure of captain Joshua Kimmich, although the ankle injury did not appear to be serious. In addition, Germany can safely field the B team in the final group game against Hungary on Tuesday. After all, the quarter-finals have been reached.
