The first candidate to present his program for the four-year period 2025-28 was Marco Sforza.
The candidate wanted to underline the critical issues that emerged after hearing from the companies: the lack of visibility, a distant federation and with an activity characterized by unsustainable costs for the company. The priority is to transform baseball and softball into a salable product: “There is a completely deserted territory. We must remove the halo of mediocrity and raise the bar” declared Sforza.
Among the projects exposed in the speech there is the baseball Premier League which will be able to have a main sponsor, the Bernabei brand. The Extra-inning project was presented on various TV channels (Discovery, RAI, Sky, etc.), made up of highlights taken from matches produced entirely on baseball fields.
We want to promote the “Lancia, Batti e Corri” initiative through the collaboration of the MIM. Delivery of vouchers, just as we want to connect the softball athletes with the Miss Italy competition. Candidate Sforza also placed emphasis on the Organization of Major Events: the Trofeo delle Regioni, Super Six, the 8-stage itinerant Baseball Day with Elio and le Storie Tese, supported by RDS and Sport Week.
Work is already underway to bring the MLB European Series to Rome, with the Roman Empire Series. MLB representative Jim Small will also send the new proposal to FIBS shortly. Vincenzo Pariniello will be the president of the organizing committee. Architect Bartolucci is working on the feasibility study for the use of the Olimpico. The project is already on Minister Abodi’s table.
A collaboration and synergy will be started with Miami Dade College, Home of Team Italy in Florida, with the possibility of having our boys and girls play and study overseas. Furthermore, 13 technicians from the USA with professional experience are ready to lend a hand to the movement.
The objective of the candidate Sforza’s group is to have a friendlier Federation with rewards for clubs and coaches based on merit. At a competitive level, the concentrations for the C series and for the youth categories are the aspects to work on, including winter championships, in addition to supporting the clubs to bring people back to the stadium. A solidarity fund and a free consultant for compliance with regulations are foreseen.
In the new Federation the Marketing Office is a central, functional structure with consultants, where the product to be implemented externally and also through the Regional Committees is packaged. Furthermore, there is a plan to develop an App to improve communication with companies.
“I am not available to share with anyone else such an important project, on which I have been working for 20 years. Don’t be afraid to change, in 4 years we will still be here and you will be able to judge the work” concluded candidate Sforza.
