75 percent of Bulgarians rushed to go shopping
Poor Bulgarians pay a colossal amount of half a billion in the days of Black Friday. This is a record for recent years!
The expectations are that the sales will be around BGN 500 million, which is more than last year, said in an interview with BTA, the chairman of the Management Board of the Bulgarian E-commerce Association (BEA), Jeanette Naydenova.
A study by the Kantar marketing analysis company, commissioned by eMag, shows that three out of every four Bulgarians living in cities intend to purchase at least one product during the campaign.
“Studies show that over 70% of Bulgarians shopped then, and according to BEA data, for the period of November 17, 18 and 19, 2023 alone, online sales exceeded BGN 250 million, and by the end of November 2023, online purchases worth over BGN 400 million,” said Naydenova.
“Black Friday” has already started in Bulgaria. The campaign is a week ahead of Black Friday in the US, which is traditionally the last Friday in November after Thanksgiving, she noted.
Consumers have changed their habits and look forward to Black Friday, with the date varying for different online stores throughout the month of November. The purchases during the campaign for some of the large online stores and platforms represent about 25-30 percent of the annual turnover, Naydenova analyzed.
According to her, this is not just a commercial campaign, but a proof of the evolving shopping habits, with people not only recognizing and participating in the campaign, but also planning purchases from different product categories. The huge number of new customers attracted each year through the Black Friday campaign is clear evidence of the continued growth of trust in e-commerce and the popularity of the campaign, where consumers find good deals for their taste and budget, she believes.
Among the best-selling products during Black Friday are clothing, shoes, perfumes, personal care and cosmetics, children’s products, daily and pet products, white and black appliances, large and small household appliances, furniture and home goods. , phones, laptops, tablets and various computer accessories, tires, auto parts and auto accessories, etc. Last year, during the campaign, Bulgarians spent an average of over BGN 620, which is BGN 120 more compared to the budget spent on average of BGN 500 during the campaign in the previous year, Naydenova pointed out.
