/ world today news/ Russia continues the work on obtaining the status of a cross-border European network (TEN) for the “South Stream” project from the European Commission and expects that an argument in favor of such a decision will be the obtaining of the sections of the gas pipeline the status of a national project in the countries, through whose territory the project passes.
TEN status will remove South Stream from the EU’s third energy package, which requires access to the pipeline to third parties. Two Gazprom projects have this status – Nord Stream and Yamal-Europe, as well as the Nabucco project.
Some countries through whose territory “South Stream” will pass have already decided to give the project national status.
