In recent days there has been a noticeable movement from X users towards the social network Bluesky given. With the rise in toxicity and a changing culture led by Elon Musk, including the removal of bans and the algorithmic promotion of disinformation, many no longer see their old familiar Twitter. This has prompted users around the world, including prominent institutions, politicians and celebrities, to look for alternatives, with Bluesky becoming a popular choice.
In Spain, this exodus has gradually become noticeable in recent weeks, but last Thursday this trend intensified. Many former X users are looking for the original Twitter experience on Bluesky and hope that the algorithms and community rules here are better protected against hate content. One thing that many Bluesky users love now is the fact that there are no ads to see.
Whether this exodus too Bluesky continues and displaces X, or whether both platforms will continue to coexist, only time will tell. However, the future of social networks seems to be becoming more and more open as new players such as Bluesky and also Meta’s Threads could come into the spotlight.
