A man who allegedly received a stolen NRLW premiership ring has been charged after the valuable belongings were found at a Newcastle business.
Sydney Roosters star Millie Elliot (née Boyle) shares the Mereweather home with her husband and fellow rugby league player Adam Elliot. It is reported that the break-in occurred around 5 a.m. on October 12th..
NSW Police allege Boyle’s 2024 NRLW premiership ring was among the items stolen during the incident.
Boyle took to Instagram to appeal for anyone who saw her beloved ring to get in touch.
‘If you work in a pawn shop in Newey (Newcastle) and someone brings in your number 8 premiership ring to exchange for cash, please let us know. Because it’s probably not his ring and he came into my house at night and stole it.’ Boyle wrote.
NSW Police charged a 24-year-old man after discovering several items belonging to Boyle and her husband at a home in Hamilton South on October 16.
But Boyle’s precious ring remained missing until police received information that it had been found at a business in Newcastle.
Officers attended the business and recovered the ring before continuing their investigation into the incident on November 8.
Millie Elliott played for the Roosters when the team won the NRLW Grand Final match between the Sydney Roosters and Cronulla Sharks.
The Australian Jillaroos star had his 2024 premiership ring stolen from his Newcastle home.
Police arrested the 37-year-old man in Hunter Street, Newcastle, around 10am on Thursday.
He was charged with stealing property and was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Newcastle Local Court on 9 next month.
The 24-year-old man was charged with aggravated trespass and criminal mischief, breaking and entering with intent to enter a dwelling, entering a building/land with intent to commit an indictable offence, and dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception.
He was refused bail and is due to appear at Newcastle Local Court on December 11.
