It’s especially nice at home on these foggy, wet, cold autumn days: This also applies especially to the second division handball players from ESV 1927 Regensburg, who have not yet been able to score points in a foreign hall. Away from home it is a learning process for the young team. Now the tension is rising: the Bunkerladies will face SV Werder Bremen on Saturday.
The bunker ladies were always able to impress in their home “bunker”: Even in the recent 25:26 defeat against second-placed Berlin, something countable would have been more than deserved. On Saturday, November 16th, at 6:30 p.m., SV Werder Bremen (14th, 4:14 points), a team that has already played two games more than the Upper Palatinate women (12th, 4:14 points), will be presenting on the Danube. 10) and still ranked behind the hosts. The surprising and convincing 37:24 home win against the previously strong TG Nürtingen enormously improved the Green-Whites’ starting situation and certainly gave them a lot of self-confidence.

The SV has had an exciting week
After half-left Naomi Concze was named “second division player of the week” by the HBF after her eleven field goals against Nürtingen, the club announced a little later that head coach Timm Friedrich was renewing his contract as a full-time coach despite “a very good offer” for a long-term extension expires after the end of the season. The trainer would like to be back in his hometown of Lower Saxony more often in the future.
Hope for support after a difficult start to the season
“Bremen is certainly a team that nominally doesn’t belong in the bottom of the table. But injury problems and a lack of luck have made for a difficult start to the season. The win against Nürtingen came at a bit of a bad time for us,” ESV coach Bernhard Goldbach has respect for the Weser team. But in your own hall you want to appear with a broad chest and let the audience carry you. “We want to continue to be a force at home and the spectators can tip the scales with their support.” In fact, the atmosphere at the three home games in the bunker so far has been fantastic. “Our young team needs this support. That’s why I hope that the hut will be full again on Saturday and that the ‘bunker earthquake’ will pave the way to victory,” says sporting director Robert Torunsky.
Right time for the fourth strike
It’s a four-point encounter for both teams, who can distance each other. The Bunkerladies have all won the previous three duels in the Upper Palatinate – the timing for the fourth match could hardly be better given the table constellation. Throw-off is on Saturday, November 16th, at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Bunkerboys’ Upper Palatinate derby against leaders ASV Cham (2 p.m.) in the men’s league and the Bunkerladies junior team’s regional league duel with MTV Stadeln at 4:00 p.m. two more duels worth seeing, in which you can secure a good place for the second division game. A perfect opportunity to say goodbye to the autumn blues and watch some racy handball games instead.
