In a season that allows very few days of rest, this evening at 9 pm, the Neupharma Virtus Imola will be a guest of Pallacanestro Crema for the twelfth day of the championship. Two teams looking for redemption will face each other on the PalaBertocchi parquet. The Romagna team will be looking for the two points after the bitter home defeat against Treviglio Basket while the Lombard team will try to recover from the defeat against Virtus Ragusa with a score of 79-77. A complicated start to the championship for the roster led by head coach Nazareno Lombardi. Crema, in fact, finds itself in penultimate place in the standings with just four points.
To approach this evening’s appointment in the best possible way, we had a chat with Luca Valentini, playmaker for Neupharma Virtus Imola.
We have passed the halfway point of this first round. What was the start?
It was a complicated start to the season, due to the difficulty of the championship, due to the difficulty of the many matches that have to be played, we are working hard to improve ourselves as a team and individually, there is the regret of not being able to bring home some extra points which were useful to us at this moment, but we need to look ahead, we are a long group, we need to continue to work hard and be able to stay united at this moment to all come out stronger together.
What aspects do we need to improve on to win again?
We must work to reduce as much as possible the blackouts that we sometimes have during the match, understand what our strengths are during a match and exploit them as much as possible, without getting discouraged if there is a moment of downtime, basketball is made up of mistakes and partial and against partial errors must be reduced to a minimum, but if they happen, go further and give 200%.
What are the positive aspects of this first part of the season?
The positive aspects are that for better or worse in the defeats we showed that for long stretches we managed to stay in the game, we just have to remove, as I said before, those blackouts that we happen to have.
What do you expect from tonight’s match?
We expect in the next match to improve as much as possible, to learn to know each other even better, to stay united and to win as many matches as we can to get as high as possible.
