For many years, folk legend and singer Wabi Daněk was used to concerts that often ended in the wee hours of the morning. They were understandably associated with a lot of travel, which did not allow him to eat healthy.

As a true musical bohemian, he was also close to alcohol, unfortunately in his case it was already an addiction. He was able to drink half a liter of hard liquor every day and was in serious danger of cirrhosis of the liver.

He realized he had to change

Therefore, his family and doctors began to urge him to change his lifestyle. He got an imaginary knife to his neck, because everyone around him suspected that he was going to be in big trouble. “There was nothing to decide, it was alcohol and a coffin, or alcohol and a little more life,” Wabi Daněk was entrusted with the program 13. First, it was necessary to overcome alcohol addiction, which was not easy at all. Wabi Daněk went to anti-alcohol treatment centersbut it didn’t work the first time and he started drinking again. The second time, he managed to overcome the addiction and began to successfully quit.

Speaking of change, his menu didn’t stay the same. Fatty foods no longer had a place in him, he started eating much healthier, and even started a weight loss diet, thanks to that he lost a beautiful eight kilos.

He ran away from the grave shovel again

However, years of uncontrolled living left irreversible consequences on his body. He narrowly escaped death for the second time when he had a stroke. Then he felt as if something was crunching in his head or a vein was bursting. He spent four long months in the hospital and the doctors told him that he really had a stroke. He went under their care at five minutes before twelve, as usual.

“That’s when I realized that there are more important things than fame, than money. Since then, I look at the world a little differently,” Wabi Daněk admitted at the time, saying that he was completely changed the values ​​of life. Unfortunately, another blow came in the form of cancer.

He fought as hard as he could

He fought the brutal disease bravely. He tried to give concerts until the last moment, which gave him happiness. One of the last entries of the Ride of the Kings was in Doloplazy. At that time, Wabi Daněk appeared completely different in front of the fans than the one they knew. He was thin, tired, with circles under his eyes. At first glance, you could tell how uneven the fight with cancer was weakening and destroying him.

He finally succumbed to the disease on November 16, 2017, at the age of seventy. “I was with him a week ago and it was clear to us that, unfortunately, it would turn out like this. Wabi Daněk left not only beautiful songs, but also four of his children walking around the world. Daughters Markéta and Renáta were born from the first marriage, and sons Stanislav and Simon from the second.
