Enough to reassure the department, before the new cycle of farmers’ movement is supposed to start on Monday ? The Ministry of Agriculture clarified the conditions of the subsidized loans that professionals in difficulty will be able to apply for, Friday 15 November.

The ministry’s press release describes two systems. The first is designed to deal with economic problems (climatic or health risks), in the form of medium-term loans with a limit of 50,000 euros per farm. Farmers who lost at least 20% of their turnover in 2024 compared to their historical reference average will be eligible, with maximum interest rates of 1.75% for a 24-month loan and 2.35% for a 36-month loan.

An additional bonus will be given to young people who have been established for less than five years. The ministry says that these loans will be available “As soon as possible”after a call for interest from banks.

A second device will be related to the problems “more structural, for example, due to the effects of climate change”. It will be in form “long term consolidation loans (12 years maximum)”, granted by banks and supported by a public guarantee put in place by Bpifrance. The amount of this loan will be limited at 200,000 euros. The guarantee system will work at the beginning of 2025. Farmers who have an interest rate total debt of more than 50% The government press release does not specify the cost of these activities for public finances.

The main agricultural unions welcomed these measures, demanding their implementation “urgent” These ads “They are definitely going in the right direction”he accepted the majority union alliance FNSEA-Jeunes Agriculteurs in a press release, which “asking the government to urgently implement these measures at the local level” etc “continue to request special support through the FAC” (burden relief fund).
