In our segment of the week, we went to meet Anita Savadogo. This young woman had careers in logistics, after studying Banking, Insurance and Accountancy. Currently, she works as a logistician-account manager in a local distribution company. Also passionate about writing, Anita is the author of a novel: “Succeeding in your physical inventory of stocks”. She tells us about her writing tips. Read!

What is the role of a logistics manager?
The role of the logistician is to develop and organize the logistics flow chain within a company (commercial, industrial, etc.) from the receipt of raw materials to the delivery of finished products. It optimizes costs and processing times by identifying and implementing the most appropriate solutions for transportation, storage and managing the flow of goods.

Why did you choose this field?
Logistics imposed itself on me, because it was not my training ground. By using it, it became my passion, and thus my professional rebound. It is a multidisciplinary field, as it includes purchasing, procurement, inventory management, distribution, and vehicle fleet.

You are also the author of a book, why do you write?
Basically, I read a lot. Since high school, I had a notebook where I liked to write down my feelings. At first I wanted to put a novel on the market, but after reflection, I said to myself why not an essay on inventory management (being an inventory manager) to logisticians, business leaders and the people all of which will help inventory management in the future. control the physical inventory of stock.

Where did this passion for writing come from?
Writing is my passion. From my childhood, I had fun writing poems and my classmates read them. Hence my childhood nickname “Anita the Writer”. I wrote cartoon stories when I was a child. I even won a literary award at the time.

Tell us about your book: “Successfully Make a Physical Inventory of Stocks”
Performing a Physical Inventory is a test that explains the correct way to take a physical inventory of goods; while respecting management through the provision, reception, distribution and inventory of goods. I go further by showing how a warehouse or store is maintained and the space in terms of the percentages that goods must occupy in the warehouse. This book is intended not only for logisticians, but also for any business manager or anyone who wants to master inventory management.

What difficulties did you face when publishing and promoting your work?
I had no major problems when publishing the work. To promote the book, the various media contributed greatly to the promotion of the work.

What do you think about the role of the author, especially in Burkina Faso?
Today, people don’t read anymore, especially with the advent of social networks, it has gone again. However, some people still enjoy reading it.

What should be the role of writing training, especially in Burkina Faso?
Reading and writing as a whole, we cannot separate them. More and more in Burkina, efforts are being made to make our children, our young brothers and sisters love to write because in some schools there are dictation competitions.

What does an author need to be a professional?
To be an author, you need to be creative, have writing skills, master the French language, etc. So to move from an author to a professional author, you need the combination of talent and literary style that are the only authentic references.

How has writing changed your personal and professional life?
Because writing is a passion, it allows me to travel. It gave me the opportunity to strengthen my interpersonal skills. Professionally, it allowed me to put professional work on the market to help all those people who are in charge of inventory management in businesses. Through this book, local companies contacted me to provide inventory management services to track their stock, as well as storage advice.

Any expectations?
Regarding the prospects, I would like to open my own business and be a reference in Burkina in the training of stock managers and warehouse workers; also helps large companies with inventory management.

What do you think about female business in Burkina Faso?
More and more, women have realized that they too can succeed in their entrepreneurial lives just as well as men. The government is giving more support to women’s initiatives through structures that give them money. This is to be welcomed.

Any advice for your younger siblings in this regard?
For my young sisters who launch into entrepreneurship, they need to train and learn, regardless of the field, before they launch. Let them be patient, because nothing good comes from impatience. They must also be determined, persistent and continue to train for innovation.

And those who want to start writing?
For those who want to start writing, I will simply tell them to love reading and above all, to be passionate about it.
