Electricity will never get cheaper –

/Poglad.info/ Interview of Dragomira Stanoeva with Prof. Ivan Hinovski

Why do you think Brussels wants to investigate some of the provisions in the wholesale electricity sales contracts concluded by the holding’s subsidiaries?

Because they have reports of some violations, but there is no information for what period of time. Keep in mind that all EU member states periodically go through similar controls and inspections. Similar violations have been found in many countries and the fine is between BGN 30 and 50,000 for a specific contract, for a specific refusal, but there are many technical arguments and details in these refusals. It is very difficult to prove that this is a search for abuse of monopoly etc.

In your opinion, what caused the EC to start an investigation against BEH?

As I told you, this happens based on signals from companies or other operators who receive some kind of refusal to transfer through a territory or something else by concluding a contract with countries /…/, receive signals and act on them. These inspections do not always result in sanctions.

Is it true that electricity is sold more expensive abroad? The regulations in question stated, for example, that the delivered electricity could only be resold within our territory, but not abroad.

No, there is no such thing at all. In the European Liberalization Code /…/ no restrictions on the freedom of trade – cross-border and internal trade. It’s all a matter of commercial contracts and the situation.

When will electricity in Bulgaria become cheaper?

It will never get cheaper because all over the world prices are moving up. As cheese rises or curd, so does electricity. It is a high-tech product and its price will always only go up.
