US President Joe Biden warned on Friday about a time of great political change after the victory of Republican candidate Donald Trump in the US presidential elections.
“We have now reached a major political change,” Trump said at his last meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and South Korean President Yeon Suk-yeol.
At the Asia-Pacific Conference (APEC), whose atmosphere was heavily dominated by Donald Trump’s return to power, Biden expected this to be his last meeting within the framework of the tripartite alliance. which he supported over the past year against North Korea and China.

The US President said the tripartite alliance “is built to last, that’s what I hope and expect,” warning of “dangerous and unstable cooperation” between North Korea and Russia, amid growing fears that nuclear-armed Pyongyang would send troops to fight in Ukraine.
The White House announced that the three leaders will announce the establishment of a general secretariat to formalize the alliance launched last year, at a summit held at Camp David.
For his part, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters who traveled with Biden on Thursday: “We will remain focused on making sure that we put the tripartite (alliance) in place, so that it becomes a permanent feature of American policy.”
Sullivan said he expects the project to continue into Trump’s second term.

He continued: “We fully expect him to continue under the next administration, although of course he will make his own decisions.”
Trump’s victory overshadowed Biden’s participation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Peru, and the G20 summit in Brazil next week.
Trump’s “America First” policy threatens to upset American allies, as was the case in his first term, although the appointment of anti-China Republicans in his administration means he may still want to depend on Seoul and Tokyo.
Biden plans to meet with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, on the sidelines of the APEC summit on Saturday
